Q&A with S.T. Joshi

Several weeks ago I wrote to S.T. Joshi and asked him if he would be willing to answer a few questions about the life and works of H.P. Lovecraft for our discussion group. For those of you who don’t know, Mr. Joshi is the worlds leading authority on H.P. Lovecraft and I thought it would be interesting to have him answer a few question that we might have about Lovecraft, his life and his work. He has recently published a two volume work called I Am Providence, Which I’m sure become the “definitive” work on the life and writing of H.P. Lovecraft. So If anyone knows about HPL it’s Mr. Joshi.

A great deal of the information known about Lovecraft comes from S.T. Joshi’s writing and research. If anyone knows what was going on in HPL’s head when he came up with something like Cthulhu, it’s this guy. So this is our chance to ask questions about H.P. Lovecraft and get the anwers from the worlds leading authority on the subject. I would like to submit no more then 20 questions to Mr. Joshi as he is a busy guy, so lets all try to come up with some good stuff to ask him!

  1. How much of “The Graveyard Rats” is Kuttner and how much of it is Lovecraft’s revision?

    • Thanks for reading the blog Morgan! I will see what S.T. Joshi has to say about this question. From my research I haven’t found anything to indicate that Lovecraft did a revision of this story. I have several books that contain Lovecraft Revisions but this story doesn’t appear in the them.

If you have found a book or publication with “The Graveyard Rats” noted as a Lovecraft Revision I would be most interested to hear about it.

      Thanks again for reading!
